Hoorn to Lelystad – 16.5 miles in 2 hours 40 minutes
A cracking sail today. The wind kicked in for the first time with a NE4. After some shopping around Hoorn, we headed out about 10.45am. After yet another abortive attempt to pump-out and fill up with fuel (the barge was closed on Wednesdays!), we hoisted the main in the harbour and the jib immediately outside and they didn’t come down again until we arrive right into the breakwaters in Lelystad. A close reach all the way across at between 6.5 to 7.5 knots – perfect sailing.
