With most of the re-rigging done and Leslie having arrived at Oxelösund, we headed fairly quickly round to Nykoping. The Fiskehamn at Oxelösund is very convenient and a nice place to be, but the supermarket is around a half hour walk away and, having emptied the boat completely at the end of last season, it seemed easier to re-stock in Nyköping. So, around 3.30pm we left Oxelösunds Båtvarv and headed round to the maim gasthamn at Nyköping. We also had Carlos with us, who we had met the previous evening as he was keen to get on the water. While there was a decent breeze, we didn’t manage to sail very much as it was right on the nose. Given the width of the Nyköping channel, there was no way we were going to tack down it, so we motored nearly all the way with just five (very pleasant) minutes under a jib only. we headed into the Gasthamn and moored next to Airborne.

Thank goodness we had Gunnar with us as a translator and we yo-yoed between the Three shop and the Pressbyrån store to try and find the right SIM card. With Gunnar’s help, we managed this and got the on-board network working. The next stop – the System Bolaget to stock up on alcohol, seemed a breeze by comparison. Food, drink and SIM card – we are now ready for anything …
