Summary: A quick final sail round Belfast Lough and then back into Bangor marina. 5.9 miles in 1hr 55 minutes.
After filling up with fuel and gas and pumping out the holding tank, we popped out today for a quick sail. In the sunshine, Belfast Lough was beautiful and though it was only blowing a light northeasterly 1-2, we had a relaxing couple of hours sailing – tacking down towards Donagdahee Sound. We then headed back into Bangor marina where we have decided to leave the boat for the winter. A good winter deal makes it reasonably good value and it is a very secure and sheltered harbour, so it seems like a good place to leave the boat. We are then only 40 miles away from the Mull of Kintyre for next season!
Hi Andy, Anne and Alex……Just read your latest postings, much more interesting than most of the books I manage to find at the library!! What an adventure you are having though it does sound that the weather could be kinder to you. Not sure just who is on board at the moment. Great photos too. Reasonable trip back to Australia, arriving 14 Aug. Still cold in Brisbane though lovely lot of sunshine. Hoping to see Cameron and family this weekend. Bunt, Dene and families now well though have been flu-affected despite vaccinations. Jetlag still present, not driving car yet as still feeling rather fuzzy in the head. Olympics were fabulous, especially the final night of track and field. Team GB certainly excelled, not so team Australia. Very impressed with the organisation of all at Olympic Park, a great credit to the organisers and volunteers, latter all very helpful and friendly.
I do hope the weather improves for you.
My love to you all,
Jen
Andy
Having just purchased my first yacht, all my previous sailing being done through the Royal Air Force, I found your article in PBO very interesting. They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and I have indeed used your article as a starting point to chart our progress with my yacht. I am sure that I will only be one of many to start “blogging” as a result of your article. Thanks very much for nudging me in the right direction, happy sailing in 2013.
